It is humbling to receive support for anything that you do, especially when you're campaigning for something you're passionate about. Below are two letters of support I've received from active DFL party leaders. I can't thank them enough for their kind words.

I'm enthusiastically supporting Vanessa Blomgren for DFL Party Secretary. As the SD Chair in the district where she was Secretary (SD44), I have first-hand knowledge of Vanessa’s secretarial abilities. She wrote comprehensive yet succinctly distilled minutes and got them out in a timely manner. I would have been pleased if that was all she did, but she was also an eager contributor to the district in many other ways. Vanessa is a joy to work with because of her positive attitude in all the tasks she assumes.

I'm supporting Vanessa Blomgren for DFL Party Secretary for a number of reasons. First, she is qualified, as her e-mail of 12/28 details. She sought and has held Secretary positions since being first able to get one back in 2003 at St. Olaf and almost continually since then.

Next she is one of a truly excellent crop of intelligent and committed young people we've been fortunate to have active in our party. The perspective young people bring to our party is something we old people simply cannot have. Vanessa's work with MyDFL has put her in touch with the young movers and shakers in our party, with the issues that affect them and with the ideas they have for moving the DFL forward. A qualified young person in an officer position sends the message that the DFL values the talents and opinions of bright young people -not just on the coordinated campaign staff when we need 24/7 work done, but deep within our party's decision making team.

On this SCC list, Vanessa brought up the idea of making the Secretary's position more than it's proscribed duties -that kind of thinking tells me she'd make an excellent party officer. This is truly making the DFL more than the sum of it's parts.

Last, but not least, Vanessa has tremendous and infectious enthusiasm. You simply cannot speak with Vanessa and not feel the commitment and excitement she has for promoting Democratic values. A look at her e-mail of 12/21 confirms not only her passion for Democratic politics but her fearlessness in defending her values; she wrote directly to Target's CEO -her employer- about the ill considered funding of MN Forward!

For these reasons and more, I urge you to support Vanessa Blomgren for DFL Secretary.
