Endorsement from Senator Ron Latz

I am pleased to recommend Vanessa Blomgren for Secretary of the State DFL Party.  Since my grandfather Rubin Latz’s years as a labor leader in the 1930s and ‘40s, partnering with Hubert Humphrey and others to found the DFL, and my father Bob Latz’s service including as the DFL-endorsed candidate for Attorney General in 1966, my family has taken a great interest in the success of the Minnesota DFL Party.  Success has required dedication, hard work, and skill.  Vanessa Blomgren has all three.

Since volunteering herself to be elected to serve as Senate District 44 Secretary in 2008, Vanessa has taken on numerous responsibilities for our grassroots party organization.  She worked local parades, fairs and festivals.  She attended meet-ups around the district and helped plan the district’s annual picnic.  She doorknocked heavily for our candidates.  She took on responsibility as secretary of MYDFL and CD5.

Vanessa’s talent and hard work were recognized in her selection to coordinate State Representative Steve Simon’s re-election campaign, and she collaborated well with the managers for Rep. Ryan Winkler’s and my re-election campaigns.  From recruiting and sharing volunteers, attending house parties, and doorknocking, to working to keep the coordinated campaign office humming for all GOTV efforts with volunteers, data entry and more targeted doorknocking, Vanessa displayed the skill and acumen valuable to winning campaign efforts.

Vanessa would bring the same talent to our state party.  I hope you will join me in supporting adding her as a valuable asset to our party leadership and our efforts to win back the legislature in 2012.

Ron Latz
State Senator
